Talking Book Tool - Legend

Here are buttons you see in the tool:

1) Setup

Meaning

The icon informs you about the device that Bloom is using. See: Audio recording tips.

The recording-level indicator helps you know if you are recording at an acceptable level. If you do not see the indicator move when you speak, you might need to correct hardware problems.

means Bloom did not find a microphone.

means the microphone it found may or may not be of sufficient quality to produce a good recording. Some microphones built into some laptop computers may cause this warning to appear.

2) Highlighted Sentence

Meaning

Highlighting shows the text will be recorded, is being recorded or is being listened to.

3) Speak

Meaning

Task

The current text may or may not have a recording.

  • Click and hold while you read the text.

You are currently recording.

 

The current text has a recording.

 

4) Check

Meaning

Task


This text has a recording you can listen to.

 


There is an audio file you can listen to.

  • Click to hear the recording.

Pause - You are listening to a recording.

  • Click to pause the playback.

You have checked (listened to) recording of the current text.

 

5) Adjust Timings

Meaning

You have selected () By Whole Text box.

Meaning

Task

There is another sentence to move forward to.

  • Click to move to the next sentence so you can record it.

You just used the Check button for the current sentence. There is another sentence to move forward to.

  • Click to move to the next sentence so you can record it.



There is a previous sentence to move back to.

  • Click to move to the previous sentence so you can listen to it or record it again.

There are no more sentences (next or back).

 

Clear

Meaning

Task

The recording of the highlighted text can be deleted.

  • Click to delete the recording of the highlighted text.

The recording has been deleted.

 

Listen

Meaning

Task

You can listen to the whole page.

  • Click to hear the whole page.

You are currently listening to the whole page.
